I have believed and continue to hope that each of us has the duty to follow our dream, regardless of financial or emotional obstacles. In my view, a person’s ideal is part of what defines them, makes them unique, and fulfills them.

For me, writing—like painting—is my way of expressing, of confronting certain things, or of reminding loved ones that history is not made available to us so we can agree with it. We learn history to show respect to those who lived it, and if we’re lucky, we learn through it how not to repeat mistakes.

I manifest through color and writing because I don’t know how to live any other way.
